Long Easy Day in Iowa

Bonk king and I were texting back and forth regarding our plans for the weekend. "I want to ride some gravel, but Dekalb is flat."  "Orangeville has the rail trails, but that isn't too exciting either." Then Bonk suggests we head to Iowa. Done.

So we headed out to Sabula, IA. If you haven't heard of Sabula, it is right on the Mississippi near Savanna, IL. FYI It is hilly there.

We rode out together, but split up after 15 miles as Bonk had to get back to air conditioning and big screens.

It wasn't too hot, but I did go through a lot of water. I made two stops for fill ups, and kept plenty of food and water with me. I wanted to be comfortable, not hungry.

I didn't have a route planned, but I did want to get 100 miles in. I was not in a hurry to get those miles though. As long as I got back before dark.

It was a good day.
